Observance of ‘World Patient Safety Day’ on 17th September 2022
Theme of the Patient Safety Day – “Medication without Harm”
Riphah Institute of Healthcare Improvement & Safety (RIHIS) observes ‘Patient Safety Day’ 0n 17th September every year. This year the themeof the Patient Safety Day is “Medication without Harm” and the slogan is “Medication Safety”.
For creating, awareness on patient safety issues among the healthcare professionals and the general public RIHIS has organized 3 days activities from the 15th– 17th September. These activities were organized with the support of Health Research Advisory Board (HealthRAB) and in collaboration with National Institutes of Health (NIH), Islamabad Healthcare Regulatory Authority (IHRA), Health Services Academy (HSA) and Drug Regulatory Authority Pakistan (DRAP). These activities were organized to improve the safety of the healthcare system for everyone including patients and service providers.

Certificate Workshop on Medication Safety at National Institute of Health (NIH):
RIHIS organized a Certificate Workshop on Medication Safety in Collaboration with National Institute of Health, Islamabad Healthcare Regulatory Authority, Drug Regulatory Authority Pakistan and Health Services Academy and with Support from Health Research Advisory Board on 16th September 2022. Speakers included Maj. Gen. Prof. Dr. Aamer Ikram Executive Director, NIH, Dr. Fazle Hadi, Chairman Board Islamabad Healthcare Regulatory Authority (IHRA), Dr. Quaid Saeed CEO, IHRA, Dr. Zakiuddin Ahmed, Project Director, RIHIS Col. (R) Dr. Amjad Khan, Coordinator, CEOH, Ms. Salwa Ahsan, Chief Pharmacist, Shifa International Hospital and Mr. Mughees, Assistant Director DRAP. More than 70 participants from 25 hospitals attended this 4 hours workshop.
Speakers spoke on multiple facts of patient safety, including medication safety.
National Webinar on Medication Without Harm:
RIHIS organized National Webinar on Medication Without Harm in collaboration Sindh Healthcare Commission, Indus Hospital and Health Networks, Pakistan Islamic Medical Association, Pakistan Socieity of Health System Pharmacists, Al-Khidmat Health Foundation and with support from Health Research Advisory Board on 17th September 2022. Speakers included Dr. Zakiuddin Ahmed, Project Director, RIHIS, Dr. Ahson Qavi, CEO, Sindh Healthcare Commission, Dr. Sohail Akhtar, HoD Pulmonology, Indus Hospital and Health Networks, Mr. Abdul Latif Sheikh, President PHSHP, Dr. Mohammad Zahid Latif, General Secretory, Al-Khidmat Health Foundation and Ms. Sumaira Khan, Head of Pharmacy Tabba Heart Institute. Nationally and globally participants joined the session
